Renault Duster Hybrid Price and Variants
The Duster Hybrid is available in three variants: Evolution, Techno and Emotion. Here is the variant-wise pricing.
| Variant | Price (Ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| Evolution | ₹16.99 lakh |
| Techno | Not specified |
| Emotion | ₹19.49 lakh |
Renault is also offering the Protect 360 ownership package, priced from Rs. 89,900. It includes three years of comprehensive insurance, scheduled maintenance and an assured resale value for three years.
Renault Duster Hybrid Engine and Mileage
The new Duster Hybrid uses Renault’s E-Tech 160 powertrain, combining a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors. The petrol engine produces 110 HP and 175 Nm of torque, while the traction motor develops 50 HP and 208 Nm. The combined system output is rated at 160 HP.
The engine uses the Atkinson combustion cycle, with Renault claiming thermal efficiency of up to 41%. The hybrid system is paired with a 1.4kWh, 247V battery pack that uses direct refrigerant cooling.
Transmission duties are handled by a multi-mode automatic gearbox featuring two electric gears and four petrol gears. The system can switch between six operating modes, including electric-only, petrol-only and different hybrid operating configurations.
Renault claims a 0-100 km/hr acceleration time of 9.61 seconds. The company also states that the SUV can cover up to 80% of city driving in electric mode, depending on driving conditions.
The Duster Hybrid has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 29 km/l. With a 50-litre fuel tank, Renault claims a driving range of more than 1400 km. These figures are manufacturer claims and will depend on real-world usage.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
The hybrid version largely retains the exterior styling of the turbo-petrol Duster. Key design elements include prominent body cladding, roof rails, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles and eyebrow-shaped daytime running lights.
The front end features an illuminated Duster emblem, while full-LED headlamps are available from the Techno variant onwards. E-Tech Hybrid badges on the front doors and tailgate distinguish the hybrid model from the other versions.
The Evolution and Techno variants get 18-inch Ridge flex wheels, while the Emotion uses 18-inch Outback diamond-cut alloy wheels. All three variants use 225/55 R18 tyres.
The SUV measures 4346 mm in length, 1815 mm in width and 1694 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2657 mm. Ground clearance stands at 212 mm, while the approach and departure angles are rated at 26.9 degrees and 34.7 degrees, respectively.
The Evolution trim is offered in Pearl White, Moonlight Silver and Stealth Black. The Techno and Emotion add River Blue, Sunset Red and Mountain Jade Green, along with selected dual-tone combinations featuring a Stealth Black roof.
Interior and Features
The cabin follows the layout of the turbo-petrol Duster, featuring a dual-screen arrangement, carbon-finish dashboard elements and an electronic gear selector.
The Evolution variant gets black upholstery with grey stitching, while the Techno features Desert Beige semi-leatherette upholstery. The top-spec Emotion uses Dune Brown leatherette upholstery.
Standard equipment on the Evolution includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument display, dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system and cruise control. All four windows feature an automatic up-and-down function.
The Techno adds a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, push-button start and connected-car functionality through the MyRenault app. The app includes features such as stolen vehicle tracking.
The Emotion variant receives a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, six-way electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, and a powered tailgate.
Renault claims a boot capacity of 544 litres when measured up to the roof, reducing to 372 litres when measured up to the parcel shelf.
Safety Features
Renault says the entry-level Evolution variant comes with 38 safety features. These include six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
However, the hybrid version does not get a 360-degree camera or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), features available on certain top-spec turbo-petrol versions.
Renault Duster Hybrid: Rivals
The Renault Duster Hybrid will compete with the strong-hybrid versions of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
With a claimed fuel efficiency of 29 km/l and a combined output of 160 HP, the Duster Hybrid enters a segment where running costs, equipment and powertrain performance are important considerations. Its market position will depend on real-world fuel economy, pricing beyond the introductory period and how its features compare with those of established rivals.
