Pune is gearing up for the grand Ganpati Visarjan procession. Seventeen major roads will shut from Friday morning, while no-parking rules begin tonight

Pune Traffic News: Devotees and other motorists planning to travel to areas along the immersion procession route have been advised to take note of the road closures and use alternative routes.

Pune News: In view of Pune’s famous Ganesh Visarjan procession, the Pune City Traffic Police has announced major traffic restrictions across the city.

As many as 17 major roads will be completely closed to general traffic from the morning of Friday, September 25, until the end of the immersion procession.

The restrictions have been introduced to ensure the procession is conducted smoothly and safely and to minimise traffic-related difficulties for citizens.

No-Parking Rules Begin From September 24

No-parking restrictions will come into effect from 11 pm on Thursday, September 24, along the main Ganesh Visarjan procession routes. Parking on both sides of the roads along the designated immersion routes will be strictly prohibited.

The no-parking restriction will apply to Laxmi Road, Kelkar Road, Kumthekar Road, Tilak Road, Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Shastri Road, JM Road, Karve Road and FC Road.

Vehicles belonging to essential services, including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and police vehicles, will be exempted from the restriction.

List Of 17 Roads Closed From September 25

The following roads will remain closed to general traffic:

1. Laxmi Road: Sant Kabir Chowki to Alka Talkies Chowk
2. Chhatrapati Shivaji Road: Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue to Jadhav Chowk
3. Bajirao Road: Savarkar Chowk to Futka Buruj Chowk
4. Kumthekar Road: Tilak Chowk to Chitale Corner Chowk
5. Ganesh Road: Daruwala Pool and Jijamata Chowk
6. Kelkar Road: Budhwar Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk
7. Tilak Road: Jadhav Chowk to Tilak Chowk
8. Shastri Road: Senadatt Chowki to Alka Talkies Chowk
9. Junglee Maharaj (JM) Road: Jhansi Rani Chowk to Khandoji Baba Chowk
10. Karve Road: Nal Stop Chowk to Khandoji Baba Chowk
11. Ferguson (FC) Road: Khandojibaba Chowk to Ferguson College Main Gate
12. Bhandarkar Road: P.Y.C. Gymkhana to Goodluck Chowk to Nataraj Chowk
13. Pune-Satara Road: Volga Chowk to Jadhav Chowk
14. Solapur Road: Seven Loves Chowk to Jadhav Chowk
15. Prabhat Road: Deccan Police Station to Shelar Mama Chowk
16. Bagade Road: Sonya Maruti Chowk to Phadke Haud Chowk
17. Guru Nanak Road: Devjibaba Chowk to Hamzekhan Chowk to Govind Halwai Chowk

Traffic Diversions Planned At Key Junctions

To manage traffic during the procession, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare has planned diversions at several important points.

Major diversion points include:

• Jhansi Rani Chowk on JM Road
• Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue on Shivaji Road
• Apollo Talkies / Daruwala Pool on Mudaliyar Road
• Sant Kabir Police Chowki on Laxmi Road
• Seven Loves Chowk on Solapur Road
• Nal Stop on Karve Road
• Ferguson College Road

Citizens Advised To Plan Travel In Advance

Devotees and other motorists planning to travel to areas along the immersion procession route have been advised to take note of the road closures and use alternative routes.

The traffic police have also appealed to citizens to cooperate with personnel deployed along the routes and follow the diversion arrangements during the Ganesh Visarjan procession.
