Mysuru-bound KSRTC buses will take a different route this Dasara. Find out the new entry and exit routes before you travel
The route change is an important travel update for anyone planning to enter or leave Mysuru by KSRTC during Dasara, particularly those using the Bengaluru-Mysuru corridor.
As Mysuru prepares for Dasara 2026, KSRTC passengers travelling to and from the city through the Bengaluru-Mysuru route will need to take note of a major traffic diversion. Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar has issued an order revising the routes of KSRTC and other transport buses at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle, also known as Manipal Hospital Junction, because of ongoing flyover and grade-separator construction.
The diversion will remain in force until the construction work at the junction is completed. The move assumes added significance ahead of Dasara, when traffic entering Mysuru is expected to rise substantially.
Why Has The Route Been Changed?
Kempegowda Circle is a key junction connecting the Mysuru-Bengaluru National Highway-275 with the Outer Ring Road. Construction of the flyover/grade separator is currently taking place around the junction, reducing the available road space and creating a bottleneck for vehicles.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project is estimated to cost Rs 63.67 crore, with around 30% of the work completed so far. Recent construction activity has further narrowed the road, making the movement of buses and heavy vehicles through the junction difficult.
With Dasara approaching and vehicle movement expected to increase, the police have introduced alternative routes for buses to ease congestion at the construction site.
New KSRTC Route From Bengaluru To Mysuru
KSRTC buses travelling from Bengaluru towards Mysuru will no longer proceed through the junction on the existing route.
After reaching Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle, buses will take a left turn towards the Ring Road and proceed via: Pushpashrama Junction – Satagalli KSRTC Depot Junction – Mahadevapura Road – Udayagiri Signal – Samosa Corner – Kalikambha Junction.
At Kalikambha Junction, buses will take a right turn and continue via: Abba Road – Pilot Circle – BN Road – KSRTC Arch Junction – Mini Vidhana Soudha Junction – Hutatma Hemachandra Circle – Hardinge Circle, before reaching the Mysuru KSRTC Bus Stand.
The revised route will affect buses entering Mysuru from Bengaluru as well as services arriving through the Bengaluru-Mysuru corridor from areas including Mandya, Hassan, Tumakuru and Shivamogga.
Revised KSRTC Route From Mysuru To Bengaluru
KSRTC buses leaving the Mysuru bus stand for Bengaluru will also avoid the existing direct route through Kempegowda Circle.
From the bus stand, buses will proceed through: Pilot Circle – Government Guest House North Gate – Dr BR Ambedkar Circle – Dr Rajkumar Circle – LIC Circle – Link Road Junction.
They will then continue via: Dandina Maramma Temple Junction – Old Tollgate – Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Circle, before joining the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway towards Bengaluru.
This means passengers travelling from Mysuru to Bengaluru should also expect buses to follow the revised route rather than the previous direct road through the junction.
Route Change To Continue Until Construction Ends
The traffic order is not limited to a particular day or a short Dasara period. The revised bus routes are expected to remain in effect until the Kempegowda Circle flyover/grade-separator work is completed.
The ongoing project is particularly significant because the junction is one of the major entry points into Mysuru. Officials have also been taking steps to clear construction debris and other obstructions from the affected stretch to facilitate traffic movement.
Dasara Could Add To Traffic Pressure
The diversion comes at a time when Mysuru is preparing for the 2026 Dasara celebrations. According to traffic data reported for the previous Dasara period, an average of 28,516 vehicles entered Mysuru every day through Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway-275 between September 22 and October 12, 2025.
With the festival expected to draw visitors from across Karnataka and beyond, the revised routes are intended to prevent KSRTC buses and other heavy vehicles from adding to congestion at the construction-affected junction.
What KSRTC Passengers Should Keep In Mind
Passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mysuru during the Dasara period should:
- Expect KSRTC buses to use the alternative routes around Kempegowda Circle.
- Allow additional travel time, particularly during peak traffic periods.
- Check their bus route and boarding details before starting their journey.
- Follow instructions from KSRTC staff and traffic police at diversion points.
- Expect the revised routes to remain in place until the flyover construction is completed.
