50,000 Residents To Get Relief From Traffic Jams; Check What Will Change

NOIDA TRAFFIC NEWS: More than 50,000 residents of Sectors 150 and 152 are set to get relief from traffic congestion as the Noida Authority plans to construct a modern cloverleaf interchange between Sectors 148 and 153 on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The proposed interchange is expected to improve connectivity between the Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway, while also providing residents with a wider and smoother route to cross the expressway. An eight-shaped cloverleaf structure will be developed between Sectors 148 and 153. It will connect directly with the service roads on both sides of the Noida Expressway.

At present, residents travelling to and from Sectors 150 and 152 have to use a relatively small underpass beneath the expressway. The narrow crossing often struggles to handle traffic during peak hours, resulting in congestion and delays. Once the cloverleaf is completed, commuters will be able to use the new interchange instead of depending solely on the existing underpass. The project is also expected to make it easier for residents to access the Yamuna Expressway.

The proposed cloverleaf will allow traffic to be separated into different lanes and enable vehicles to move between the expressway and service roads more smoothly. Unlike conventional intersections, a cloverleaf interchange allows vehicles to change direction without stopping at traffic signals or interrupting traffic moving along the main carriageway. This is expected to reduce congestion while also saving commuters time and fuel.

The Noida Authority is currently preparing the design for the proposed interchange. Once the design is finalised, it will be sent to IIT for technical scrutiny and approval. Following the technical approval, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared. The authority will then invite tenders to select an agency to construct the interchange. The project will move into the construction stage after these processes are completed.

Why The Cloverleaf Is Needed? The population of Sectors 150 and 152 is expected to increase further as more residential development takes place in the area. With the existing underpass already facing congestion during busy hours, authorities expect traffic pressure to increase in the coming years. The proposed interchange is therefore intended to address both the current traffic problem and the area’s future connectivity requirements.

What Is A Cloverleaf Interchange? A cloverleaf interchange is a grade-separated road junction designed with curved ramps that resemble the leaves of a four-leaf clover. The design allows vehicles travelling in different directions to move between roads without crossing directly through opposing traffic or stopping at traffic signals. In the proposed Noida project, the interchange will connect the service roads on both sides of the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, creating smoother access for residents and other commuters. Once completed, the project is expected to provide a more efficient connection for residents of Sectors 150 and 152 and improve movement towards the Yamuna Expressway.
