Vande Bharat News: Indian Railways has revised the schedules of two Vande Bharat Express trains operating from Varanasi to Ranchi and Deoghar. The revised timings will come into effect from September 2, 2026, as reported by The Indian Express.

Passengers travelling on these services are advised to check the updated schedule before planning their journeys.

The changes affect the trains’ departure times from Varanasi, while there will be no changes to their timings at stations beyond Varanasi.

Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat To Leave 10 Minutes Earlier

The Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express, train numbers 20888/20887, will have a revised departure time from Varanasi Railway Station. Currently, train number 20888 departs Varanasi at 4:05 pm. From September 2, it will leave at 3:55 pm, making its departure 10 minutes earlier.

There will be no change to the train’s schedule beyond Varanasi.

Train Runs Six Days A Week

Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12, 2024, the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express is operated and maintained by the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone.

It is the country’s 49th Vande Bharat Express and began commercial operations on March 18, 2024.

Train number 20888/20887 operates every day except Tuesday and covers the 536-km distance between Varanasi and Ranchi in around 7 hours 50 minutes.

Eight Stations Covered On Varanasi-Ranchi Route

The Vande Bharat train stops at eight stations during its journey between Varanasi and Ranchi.

These are:

  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya
  • Sasaram
  • Gaya
  • Koderma
  • Hazaribagh Road
  • Parasnath
  • Bokaro Steel City
  • Muri

AC Chair Car, Executive Chair Car Options Available

Passengers travelling on the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat can choose between AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car seating.

The fare for an AC Chair Car between Varanasi and Ranchi is Rs 1,470, while an Executive Chair Car ticket costs Rs 2,695.

Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Also Gets New Timing

The Northern Railway has also revised the schedule of the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express, train number 22500.

The revised timetable will also come into effect from September 2, 2026.

The train currently departs Varanasi at 6:20 am. From September 2, it will leave the station at 6:10 am, 10 minutes earlier than its existing departure time.

No Change At Stations Beyond Varanasi

Passengers travelling on the Varanasi-Deoghar service will see no change in the train’s timings at stations beyond Varanasi.

The same applies to the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat, whose schedule beyond Varanasi will remain unchanged.

Passengers boarding either service from Varanasi should therefore take note of the revised departure times from September 2: 3:55 pm for the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat and 6:10 am for the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat.
