Jaguar Type 01, Jaguar’s 1000 PS Electric GT
Jaguar has officially entered a new era with the Type 01, an all-electric four-door GT that marks the biggest transformation in the brand’s history. And Jaguar hasn’t played it safe.
The Type 01 produces a massive 1030 PS and 1365 Nm from three electric motors. It can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, making it the most powerful road-going Jaguar ever.
A Completely New Jaguar
The Type 01 is built on Jaguar’s new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) and gets a design that is very different from the Jaguars we know today.
It has a long bonnet, low roofline, large 23-inch wheels and a dramatic fastback-like profile. Jaguar says the design takes inspiration from icons such as the E-Type and XJS, but gives them a futuristic interpretation.
The car also gets active aerodynamic elements and a deployable rear spoiler, helping it achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.23.
Up To 720 kms Of Range
Power comes from a 118 kWh battery with an 850V electrical architecture. Jaguar claims a WLTP range of up to 720 km. With a 350 kW DC fast charger, the Type 01 can add up to 321 km of range in around 13 minutes.
Jaguar has also focused heavily on driving dynamics, with a claimed 50:50 weight distribution and intelligent torque vectoring.
Futuristic Interior
The cabin is just as dramatic as the exterior. A central spine separates the four seats, while a huge 24-inch OLED display dominates the dashboard.
There is also a 7-inch touchscreen for the passenger and an immersive audio system with special Sensory Audio seats.
When Is It Coming?
Production of the Type 01 will begin in Britain in 2027, with deliveries expected to start in the second half of the year.
Prices are expected to start at around £130,000 in the UK, which is almost ₹ 1.4 crores in India.
The Type 01 isn’t simply a new Jaguar. It is the first production model of a completely reinvented Jaguar — one that is now betting heavily on electric power, bold design and exclusivity. And judging by the numbers, Jaguar certainly isn’t holding back.
