2026 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition Launched at Rs. 36.51 Lakhs

Toyota has introduced the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition in India, with prices starting at Rs. 36.51 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the manual version. The automatic variant is priced at Rs. 38.72 lakhs. Bookings for the special edition open today, October 12, 2026.
The Leader Edition is based on the 4×2 version of the Fortuner and focuses primarily on styling and equipment enhancements rather than mechanical changes. It follows similar Leader Edition versions introduced in 2024 and 2025, although those editions were offered through dealers.
The automatic version costs Rs. 2.21 lakhs more than the manual. Toyota will offer the Leader Edition in three exterior shades: Super White, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black. The Silver Metallic colour previously available with earlier Leader Editions has been dropped.
2026 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: what’s new?
The changes made to the Leader Edition are primarily visual. At the front, the SUV gets a black-finished grille along with a revised bumper featuring contrasting black and silver elements. The bonnet carries prominent Toyota lettering, giving the SUV a more distinctive appearance.
The 18-inch alloy wheels have also been finished in black. A black roof provides the SUV with a dual-tone exterior treatment, while additional black detailing has been added to the tailgate.
Inside, the Leader Edition gets a black-and-maroon colour combination for the upholstery and door trims. Illuminated door sills and ambient lighting have also been added.
The equipment list includes auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors and a tyre pressure monitoring system. While ambient lighting is a new addition, several other features were already available on the previous Leader Edition.
2026 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition engine and gearbox
There are no changes to the mechanical package. The Leader Edition continues with Toyota’s familiar 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine.
With the six-speed automatic gearbox, the engine develops 204 HP and 500 Nm. The six-speed manual version produces the same 204 HP, while maximum torque is rated at 420 Nm.
Unlike some variants in the wider Fortuner range, the Leader Edition is available exclusively with a 4×2 drivetrain. Buyers therefore do not get the option of four-wheel drive with this special edition.
2026 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: what does it add?
The Leader Edition is essentially aimed at buyers looking for a more distinctive version of the Fortuner without moving to a different powertrain or drivetrain configuration. The black exterior detailing, dual-tone cabin and additional equipment set it apart from the regular 4×2 versions.
However, mechanically, it remains unchanged, meaning the higher price is largely attributable to the additional styling elements and equipment. With the automatic variant priced at Rs 38.72 lakh, buyers will also need to consider how much value they place on these cosmetic upgrades over the standard Fortuner.
