Rapido has launched Marathi learning resources for its drivers in Maharashtra. The move comes as drivers face a mandatory Marathi language requirement in the state

Through the new learning initiative, Rapido said it aims to make Marathi-learning resources easily available to drivers across the state, helping them communicate more effectively with customers while navigating the language requirement.
Mumbai News: Rapido, India’s largest one-stop mobility platform, has launched dedicated Marathi language-learning resources for its Bike, Auto and Cab Captains in Maharashtra, becoming the first mobility platform to undertake such an initiative.
The move comes in response to Maharashtra’s mandatory Marathi language requirement for drivers. Rapido said it has stepped in to help its Captains learn the language through simple and accessible digital resources, allowing them to adapt to the requirement while continuing to provide mobility services across the state, as reported by Mumbai Live.
Three YouTube Channels For Rapido Captains
As part of the initiative, Rapido has created three separate YouTube channels, with learning content specifically designed for its Bike, Auto and Cab Captains. The channels are:
- For Cab Captains: Rapido Cab Dost Mumbai
- For Bike Captains: Bike Dost Mumbai
- For Auto Captains: Rapido Mumbai
The content is designed to help Captains learn Marathi quickly and communicate more effectively with passengers while providing services across Maharashtra.
Rapido said the separate channels have been created to make the learning material more relevant and accessible to different categories of Captains.
Learning Marathi At Their Own Pace
The company said the initiative is part of its wider effort to support its Captain community as requirements for drivers evolve. Rather than simply informing drivers about the language requirement, Rapido is providing them with practical resources that they can use to learn at their convenience.
The Marathi learning material is being made available through multiple digital touchpoints, allowing Captains to access the content and learn at their own pace. These include YouTube channels, in-app nudges, WhatsApp channels and Rapido Dost pages.
The company said the approach is aimed at making the resources easily accessible to its Captain community across Maharashtra.
What Rapido Said
Speaking about the initiative, Rohit Rathod, Vice President – Operations, Rapido, said the company wanted to help its Captains adapt to Maharashtra’s increasing focus on Marathi language proficiency. “As Maharashtra strengthens its focus on Marathi language proficiency for drivers, we wanted to support our Captains in adapting to the requirement,” Rathod said.
He added that Rapido was the first mobility platform to create dedicated Marathi learning channels for its Bike, Auto and Cab Captains.
According to Rathod, supporting Captains should go beyond simply communicating a new requirement and should include providing practical tools to help them meet it.
Through the new learning initiative, Rapido said it aims to make Marathi-learning resources easily available to drivers across the state, helping them communicate more effectively with customers while navigating the language requirement.
Why The Initiative Matters
For thousands of drivers working across Maharashtra, the language requirement adds another condition to their work. Rapido’s initiative is aimed at making the transition easier by giving drivers access to learning material without requiring them to attend physical classes.
The company said its focus is on accessible, practical and self-paced learning, allowing Bike, Auto and Cab Captains to use the resources according to their convenience.
The initiative also comes as mobility platforms and their driver communities continue to adapt to changing regulatory and local requirements across different states.
