Mumbai News: Thousands of families travelling to Konkan for Ganeshotsav 2026 will be able to make the journey without paying toll charges, with the Maharashtra government announcing a complete toll waiver for the festive period.

The toll exemption, which came into effect on September 11, will remain in place until September 27, covering several key routes used by devotees travelling to Konkan.

According to an official Public Works Department (PWD) circular issued on September 8, the waiver has been announced under the state government’s festive travel arrangements led by Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhonsle.

Which Routes Are Covered Under The Toll Waiver?

The toll exemption will cover key highways and roads, including the Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48), the Mumbai-Goa National Highway (NH-66), and state highways managed by the PWD and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), as reported by Pune Mirror.

Vehicles travelling via the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu will also be eligible for the full toll waiver during the specified period.

Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses carrying devotees travelling to Konkan from different districts across the state will also be covered under the scheme.

How To Avail The Ganeshotsav Toll Waiver

Vehicle owners travelling to Konkan will need to obtain a dedicated pass titled ‘Ganeshotsav 2026 Konkan Darshan’ to avail themselves of the toll exemption. The pass will include details such as the vehicle’s registration number and the driver’s name. The passes are being made available at local police stations, traffic police checkposts and Regional Transport Office (RTO) branches across Maharashtra.

The passes are being issued through coordination between the transport department, police and RTO authorities to help facilitate smoother travel during the festival.

Pass Valid For Return Journey

The toll waiver will also apply to the return journey, meaning travellers will be able to use the same pass when returning from Konkan. The arrangement is expected to provide financial relief to families travelling during Ganeshotsav, when large numbers of people from Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra traditionally head to their native villages in the Konkan region.

With the toll exemption in place from September 11 to September 27, devotees travelling by private vehicles as well as eligible MSRTC buses will have an additional incentive to use the designated routes during the festive period.
