Traffic Jams Reported At These Spots

The annual Ganesh Chaturthi rush to Konkan has triggered major traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Goa highway, with thousands of residents heading towards their native villages for the festival. Traffic has been particularly affected at Mangaon and Indapur, where narrow stretches of road have prompted police to impose one-way traffic as a precautionary measure. The traffic restrictions have resulted in long queues of vehicles at both locations.

Nagothane Bridge Closure Adds To Congestion: The situation has been further aggravated by the closure of the main bridge at Nagothane. With the bridge shut to traffic, vehicles have been diverted through the service road. However, the service road has limited capacity, resulting in congestion in the area as well. The number of vehicles using the Mumbai-Goa highway has increased sharply over the past two days, putting additional pressure on the already constrained road network.

Raigad Traffic Police teams have been deployed at several locations to regulate traffic and ease congestion. Police personnel are managing vehicle movement at key points and working to keep traffic flowing. Devotees travelling towards Konkan have also been advised to consider alternative routes and cooperate with traffic personnel.

The traffic volume has also increased as several citizens have travelled to Konkan in groups. Office-bearers of various political parties arranged ST buses in group bookings for people travelling to their native places. These buses were sent towards Konkan on Friday. At the same time, a large number of people travelled in private vehicles towards Raigad and Ratnagiri, further adding to the pressure on the highway.

With Ganesh Chaturthi approaching, the Mumbai-Goa highway is expected to remain busy as more devotees make their way to Konkan for the celebrations.
