Mumbai News: Travellers heading to Navi Mumbai International Airport have new bus connections to consider, with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) introducing services linking the airport with key locations in Mumbai and Pune.
The Dadar-airport service was inaugurated on Wednesday by Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. Buses on this route will travel via the Atal Setu, offering a direct connection between central Mumbai and the airport.
Pratap Sarnaik said the initiative would bring the airport into the state’s broader public transport network. He added that connecting it directly to Dadar, a major transport interchange, would benefit both air travellers and other commuters.
The MSRTC has outlined three corridors connecting the airport with Dadar, Borivali and Swargate in Pune. The services are intended to offer an alternative to private vehicles and make reaching the airport easier for passengers travelling from different parts of the region.
MSRTC Airport Buses: Routes And Ticket Prices
The proposed fares and route stages for the three services are as follows:
| Route | Stages | Adult Fare | Child Fare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Borivali to Navi Mumbai International Airport | 10 | Rs 210 | Rs 105 |
| Dadar to Navi Mumbai International Airport via Atal Setu | 8 | Rs 170 | Rs 85 |
| Swargate, Pune, to Navi Mumbai International Airport | 22 | Rs 455 | Rs 230 |
The fares listed are proposed rates for the respective routes.
Dadar To Airport Via Atal Setu For Rs 170
The Dadar service will cross the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, commonly known as Atal Setu, on its way to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Starting from Dadar Asiad Bus Stand, the bus will stop at Hindmata, Byculla, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Carnac Bunder and Ulwe before reaching the airport.
The route provides a direct bus option for passengers from central Mumbai, reducing the need to combine multiple public transport services to reach the airport.
Borivali Bus Connects Western Suburbs To Airport
The Borivali route will serve a series of residential and transport hubs across Mumbai’s western suburbs and parts of the Andheri area.
The scheduled stops include Nancy Colony, Sukurwadi, Samta Nagar in Kandivali East, Pushpa Park in Malad, Goregaon East Police Station, Jogeshwari, Gundavali in Andheri East, Domestic Airport Terminal 1, Vile Parle, Vakola, Bandra Housing Board, Kalanagar, Maitri Park, Vashi Highway, Nerul and Belapur Fort.
With an adult ticket priced at Rs 210 and a child ticket at Rs 105, the service is intended to give western suburban commuters another way to travel directly to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Pune-Airport Service To Run From Swargate
Passengers travelling from Pune will have a bus connection starting at Swargate Bus Stand. The route will cover Vanaz, Chandani Chowk, Balewadi, Hinjawadi Phata and Indira College Wakad before proceeding to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
At Rs 455 for adults and Rs 230 for children, this is the costliest of the three proposed services. It also covers the highest number of stages, at 22.
The connection extends the airport’s public transport reach beyond the Mumbai metropolitan area to passengers travelling from Pune.
NCMC Cardholders To Get Applicable Concessions
Passengers holding National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) issued for MSRTC services will be eligible for the standard concessions applicable to 12-metre e-Shivai electric buses, under the proposed arrangements.
The deployment of electric buses is also expected to support cleaner public transport while expanding access to the airport.
MSRTC May Add More Services Based On Demand
The corporation has said it may introduce further airport services depending on passenger requirements. The three routes are intended to strengthen direct bus connectivity from important transport centres in Mumbai and Pune. The Dadar service offers a link via Atal Setu, while the Borivali route covers several western suburban locations and the Swargate service connects Pune with the airport.
Together, the routes give passengers additional public transport options when planning journeys to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
