Indian Railways will introduce a new Amrit Bharat Express service connecting Coimbatore Junction in Tamil Nadu with Dhanbad Junction in Jharkhand from August 25, providing a new weekly rail link between southern and eastern India. The train will pass through Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar before reaching Jharkhand.

The service is expected to benefit students, daily wage earners, small traders, families and senior citizens who depend on the Railways for long-distance journeys, according to a Railway press release.

Eight Sleeper And 11 General Coaches

According to a report in The Hindu, the Amrit Bharat Express will feature upgraded coaches, improved seating, enhanced safety features and passenger-friendly amenities, aimed at making long-distance journeys more comfortable and secure while keeping fares affordable.

The train composition will include:

  • 8 Sleeper Class coaches
  • 11 General Second Class coaches
  • Two Luggage-cum-Brake Van coaches with accommodation for differently abled passengers
  • One Pantry Car coach

The combination of Sleeper and General Second Class coaches is expected to make the service accessible to passengers across different income groups.

Dhanbad-Coimbatore Train To Run Every Saturday

Train No 22363, the Dhanbad-Coimbatore Amrit Bharat Weekly Express, will depart from Dhanbad Junction at 4:10 pm every Saturday, effective from August 22. It will arrive at Coimbatore Junction at 6:30 pm on Monday.

The return service, Train No 22364, the Coimbatore-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Weekly Express, will depart from Coimbatore Junction at 7:50 am every Tuesday and reach Dhanbad Junction at 1 pm on Thursday.

Coimbatore-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express: Station Timings

For Train No 22363, travelling from Dhanbad to Coimbatore, the scheduled timings at key stations are:

  • Jolarpettai: 1:50 p.m. – 1:55 pm
  • Salem: 3:12 p.m. – 3:15 pm
  • Erode: 4:15 p.m. – 4:20 pm
  • Tiruppur: 5:03 p.m. – 5:05 pm

For Train No 22364, travelling from Coimbatore to Dhanbad, the timings are:

  • Tiruppur: 8:28 a.m. – 8:30 am
  • Erode: 9:20 a.m. – 9:25 am
  • Salem: 10:17 a.m. – 10:20 am
  • Jolarpettai: 12:45 p.m. – 12:50 pm

Weekly Service To Strengthen South-East Rail Connectivity

The new service will provide a direct weekly connection between Coimbatore and Dhanbad while linking several major regions across the country. By passing through Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the train will connect passengers from southern India with destinations across central, northern and eastern India.

The introduction of the Amrit Bharat Express is expected to expand affordable long-distance travel options for passengers who rely on the Railways for regular journeys.
