Check India’s Best-Selling Car In August

Tata Punch: The Tata Punch tops the list, with the micro SUV recording total sales of 21,320 units in August. This marks an approximately 99% year-on-year increase compared with the 10,704 units sold in August 2025.
The 2026 Tata Punch starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹5.59 lakh.

Its bold design, LED lighting and 193mm ground clearance add to its appeal. Inside, the SUV gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, wireless connectivity, a sunroof and a 360-degree camera.
For safety, it comes with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and six airbags. Buyers can choose from a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 88 PS, a turbo-petrol engine generating 120 PS, and a CNG variant.
The petrol variants offer a claimed mileage of around 19-20 km/l, while the CNG version delivers up to 27 km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR: Maruti Suzuki WagonR ranked second in terms of sales. The car recorded total sales of 20,180 units last month, marking a strong 39% year-on-year increase compared with the 14,552 units sold in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: The Maruti Suzuki Swift ranked third in terms of sales. A total of 19,832 units were sold in August 2026, marking a strong 60% year-on-year increase compared with the 12,385 units sold in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: The Maruti Suzuki Fronx ranked fourth in terms of sales. A total of 18,730 units were sold in August 2026, marking a 51% year-on-year increase compared with the 12,422 units sold in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga ranked fifth in terms of sales. A total of 18,516 units were sold in August 2026, just 71 units more than the 18,445 units sold in August 2025.

Tata Nexon: The Tata Nexon ranked sixth in terms of sales. A total of 18,431 units of the SUV were sold in August 2026, marking a 32% year-on-year increase compared with the 14,004 units sold in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire: The Maruti Suzuki Dzire ranked seventh in terms of sales. A total of 18,418 units were sold in August 2026, marking a 12% year-on-year increase compared with the 16,509 units sold in August 2025.

Hyundai Creta: The Hyundai Creta ranked eighth on the list. A total of 16,288 units of the SUV were sold in August 2026, marking a marginal 2% year-on-year increase compared with the 15,924 units sold in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno: The Baleno also made it to the top 10 on the back of strong sales growth. A total of 15,746 units were sold in August 2026, marking a 25% year-on-year increase compared with the 12,549 units sold in August 2025.

Mahindra Scorpio: The Scorpio/Scorpio N rounded out the top 10 list, ranking tenth in terms of sales. A total of 15,576 units were sold in August 2026, marking a strong 58% year-on-year increase compared with the 9,840 units sold in August 2025.
