Toyota Innova Hycross Updated In Indonesia With New Features

Toyota has introduced an updated version of the Innova Hycross in Indonesia, where the MPV is sold as the Kijang Innova Zenix. The latest update brings several changes to the cabin and equipment list, while the exterior design and engine options remain unchanged.
The updates are noteworthy for the Indian market as the Innova Hycross is expected to receive a facelift soon. Some of the feature additions introduced on the Indonesian model could potentially make their way to the India-spec version, although Toyota has not confirmed this.
Toyota Innova Hycross Indonesia model: What’s new?
The updated Kijang Innova Zenix retains the existing exterior styling without any major design revisions. Toyota Indonesia is offering optional Modellista accessories for customers looking for additional visual enhancements, but the standard bodywork remains unchanged.
The more significant changes are inside the cabin. Higher-spec variants now get a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the earlier 10.1-inch unit. The new system also supports in-car Wi-Fi connectivity.
Toyota has additionally introduced a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the hybrid variants. The petrol-powered versions, meanwhile, continue with a smaller 7-inch driver display. This represents a notable equipment upgrade over the India-spec Innova Hycross, which currently uses analogue instrument dials with a central multi-information display.
Engine and transmission options remain unchanged
Toyota has retained the existing powertrain options for the Indonesian market. The MPV continues to be offered with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 174hp.
Buyers can also opt for the 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain, which develops a combined output of 186 HP. The petrol engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission, while the hybrid version uses an e-CVT gearbox.
There are no reported mechanical changes as part of this update.
Could the Indonesian update preview the India-spec facelift?
The timing of the Indonesian launch is significant, considering that Toyota is expected to introduce an updated Innova Hycross in India, potentially on November 25, 2026.
While the Indonesian model does not receive exterior revisions, the India-spec facelift is expected to bring more noticeable styling changes. Spy images of test vehicles have indicated the possibility of a redesigned front grille, slimmer headlamps, revised bumpers and updated tail-lamps.
Another expected development is the introduction of a flex-fuel strong hybrid powertrain. The system is likely to retain the existing hybrid architecture but receive modifications to the 2.0-litre petrol engine to support different ethanol blends. The exact fuel compatibility and availability across different variants remain unclear.
If introduced, this would mark a significant development for the Indian market, where a flex-fuel strong hybrid powertrain would be a first of its kind. Whether Toyota will extend flex-fuel compatibility to the non-hybrid petrol variants is also yet to be confirmed.
The Indonesian update provides an indication of the feature direction Toyota could consider for the Indian MPV. However, the final specifications, design changes and powertrain details of the India-spec facelift will only become clear at its official launch.
