Four new link expressways could get their foundation stones in October. Here’s how the projects will connect major highways and cities across Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW NEWS: Uttar Pradesh is moving ahead with a major expansion of its expressway network, with foundation-laying ceremonies for four proposed link expressways likely to be held between October 1 and 15.
The projects – the Farrukhabad Link Expressway, Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jhansi Link Expressway and Jewar Link Expressway – have moved closer to construction after substantial progress on land acquisition and tendering. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has been preparing for the foundation-laying programme, with the ceremony earlier expected this month but delayed because of adverse weather and technical issues.
Farrukhabad Link Expressway To Connect Ganga And Agra-Lucknow Corridors
The proposed Farrukhabad Link Expressway will provide a connection between the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and the Ganga Expressway, creating an additional east-west link across central Uttar Pradesh.
The approximately 90-km corridor will pass through the Etawah, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad and Hardoi regions before connecting with the Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur.
Around 1,339.04 hectares of land across six districts has been earmarked for the project.
UPEIDA has already invited bids for packages of the Agra-Lucknow-to-Ganga Expressway link through Farrukhabad, indicating that the project has progressed beyond the planning stage.
Purvanchal Link Expressway To Create Another Major Connection
The proposed Purvanchal Link Expressway will connect the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway. The corridor is expected to be around 50 km long, with approximately 643.60 hectares of land required for its development.
UPEIDA’s official tender records show that the authority has invited technical and financial proposals for the Agra-Lucknow-to-Purvanchal Expressway link, with the tender process forming part of the current project preparation.
Jhansi Link Expressway Moves Towards Construction
The Jhansi Link Expressway is another major project in the pipeline. Of the 1,539.19 hectares required in Jalaun and Jhansi districts, 1,313.08 hectares had been acquired by August 24, according to the project update cited in the latest report.
The tender-related process has also advanced, with UPEIDA listing the authority’s engineer tender for the Jhansi Link Expressway with a September 30 closing date. The foundation-laying programme has been proposed for the first half of October.
Jewar Link Expressway To Strengthen Airport Connectivity
The Jewar Link Expressway is being developed to provide a direct high-speed connection between the Jewar airport region and the Ganga Expressway via Bulandshahr.
UPEIDA lists the Jewar Airport-to-Ganga Expressway link among its proposed expressway projects. The authority has also initiated tender-related work for the project, with the current authority-engineer tender scheduled for September 30.
Land Acquisition Nears Completion Across Projects
According to the latest project update, land acquisition for the four link expressways has been completed, while UPEIDA is targeting completion of the remaining tender-related processes by September 30.
The authority has also presented preparations for the proposed foundation-laying programme to the state government. The ceremony is now expected to take place between October 1 and 15, with Navratri being considered as a possible window.
