BMW F 450 GS India launch confirmed! RE Himalayan’s Indo-German rival

BMW Motorrad has confirmed the India launch of its much-anticipated adventure motorcycle, the F 450 GS. The model will finally make its much-anticipated India debut on April 23, 2026. While the model was designed and developed in Germany, it will be manufactured locally in India at TVS Motor Company’s Hosur facility.With this, the new model will be BMW’s entry-level adventure entry point, effectively replacing the G 310 GS in India. It will go against the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure albeit at a premium price point.

BMW F 450 GS: Engine specs and hardware

Powering the F 450 GS is a new 420cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor that produces around 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and comes equipped with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter. On the hardware front, the motorcycle is expected to feature a 43 mm USD front fork and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a 310 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc. The bike rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.

BMW F 450 GS: Features and expected pricing

In terms of features, the F 450 GS packs a rich electronics suite, including a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, multiple riding modes, traction control, switchable dual-channel ABS, heated grips, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, Engine Drag Torque Control and Dynamic Brake Control. BMW is also expected to offer the bike in four variants: Basic, Exclusive, Sport and GS Trophy.Globally, the F 450 GS offers multiple seat height options, with a standard seat height of 845 mm, which can be adjusted to 835 mm or 860 mm depending on the seat configuration. While official pricing for India is yet to be announced, the motorcycle is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 5 lakh, ex-showroom. More details can be expected closer to the launch.
